WAIKOUAITI.

June 20. — A social meeting of the choii andi Sunday school teachers was held in the vestry of the Presbyterian Church on Wednesday last. Th* night was very unpropitious, and the atteudance was therefore not so large as^fc would ctherwise have been. The Rev. J. J. Cairney presided, and in a. short address impressed on those present the" necessity cf cultivating the social side of their nature, and this could be done in conjunction with church work. Various games followed, interspeised with songs by Mr Stewais (" Daybreak l 7), Miss M. Valentines (" The face eti an tinge?'), Miss Valentine (" She were a wreath "), Mr T. Smith (" The days we went a-gipsying "), Mr Fleming ('" Thei bsautiful dream "'), Mrs Kerr (." The Qtukci's daughter "), and Mr West (" The king's minstrel "). Mr T\'e3t also gave a couple of recitations, which were much enjoyed. An excellent supper was served, and at the close of the gathering Mr Stewait proriosed a vote of thanks to al! ■who had assisted*.
