Michael O'Halloran, Green Island Hotel, Creen Island.— Sir Hanlon for the applicant.— The Chairman said the police i sport was favourable, and the application wou.cl be granted. — 4n application for an extension to 11 o'clock: wan al&o granted. Fiank Gr ; fEn, Brighton Ho+cl, accommocnt.on license.— Mr J.ni'es in support.— The police report was favourable, ard the license was granted at a fee of £7 10s per snnum. George M-agoriau, Lee Stream Hotel, accommodation license— ilr James in support.— The Chairman: Has Mr Mago^ian not sold his l)Otell )O tel? — Mr James said that for Eonie time past Mr Magorian had been in communication wit'i the County Council with rcgaid to the formation of a road that would improve his property. He had also been engaged in building .and making nther improvement?. It was not Mr Magorian's intention to remain lo^g in the distiict. As soon as he had got matteis m shape for selling he would do so.— The Chairman said there was no complaint against the conduct cf the house. The coinpleunt was that the applicant gave way to temptation, and was, in consequence, not fit to keep a hotel. — Mr James said that Mr Magorisn fuliy intended to sell out, and if the license was granted it was certa-in that the house would be sold as soon as the road was made. — The Chairmar. : Is he likely to sell within three months 9 — Mr Jprnes said if the applicant was bound down \o too short t, time it would affect the sale. If the committee could not see its way to grant the licenso at once he would ask for an adjournment for three months. — The Chairman : The application will bs R.djourned <for three mojiths — to the next meeting of the committee James O'Doimell, Crescent Hotel, Allanton. — Mr Hanlcn in support.— The Chairman said the police reported that the applicant was convicted of keeping his house open after hours. Of course that was not a ground for refusing, but trading on a Sunday would be. — -Mr Ha.n!on Baid that on the occasion referred to a circus was being held ot Allanfon, and while the licensee was in a sidercom a crowd came in, and } Mr O'Donnell overlooked the fact that it was 10 o'clock. — Mr Snow «aid it was very umisual for a circus to appear m a country district, and •when one came along people travelled from s'A corners to sec it. A man might vciy easily b3 caught on such an occasion in FUiuplying liquor s few minutes after ths closing hour. — Mr Hanlan remarked that when the magi«tiate convicted he said it was not a serious c?se. — Ths Chairman said the licensee must bo careful to comply wrth the law in the future.
