OTAGO PRESBYTERIAN SYNOD.
OPENING- SESSION.
The Presbyterian Synod of Otago and Southland tiponed its proceedings on Monday night in First Church. The retiring Mode'-atc,.' (the Rev. A. Cameron) presided for tho opening service, and preached an impressive sermon on the words from St. John* Gospel xii, 32: "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." On the motion of the retiring Moderator, the Rev. J. A. Will, of Lawrence, waa unanimously elected Moderator for the ensuing twelve months, and took the chair accordingly.
After the usual formal business had beep transacted, the Synod adjourned until this morning at 10 o'clock.
