At the instance of the British Ambassador^ the Washington Commissioners at the St. Louis Exhibition prohibited the proposed Boer war display, on the ground that it would be insulting to the British army.

SIR J. G. 'WARD TO REPRESENT NEW ZEALAND. (From a Special Corbespoxdext.) AUCKLAND, March 29. I h-ave good authority for stating that Sir Joseph Ward will represent the New Zealand G-ovevnment at the opening of the St. Louis Exhibition. He has booked his passage by the R.M.S. Sierra, which leaves here on the Bth prox. for San Francisco, and purposes being back in the colony in time for the opening of Parliament. Mr T. E. Donne, superintendent; of the Government Tourist Department, will accompany Sir Joa2ph.
