WAIMATUKU.
March 28. — Yesterday morning at 2f> minutes to 3 a very severe shock of earthquake was felt heie. A lumblmg noise, faomethmg like a bag of potatoes falling from a distance on to a wcoden floor, was first heard, then the house trembled as if struck by a gple of wind; after which it shook and heaved like a ship on the waves of a short chopping sea, while the creaking noiss suggested the idea >of every board being racked from its nails. The motion lasted for a few seconds, leaving us with that indescribable feeling that accompanies sea-sick-ness. In some houses the clocks stopped; at others the fowls left their roosts, and ducks commenced quacking.
