damaged parcels at low prices, which drags "down, values of other descriptions. Good Can t&rbury Canadians are quoted at 21s to 23s Sparrowbills <and G-artons at 29s to 21s, anc damaged parcels 17» to 17s 6<l per 3841b ; Duns 17s to 18s per 3361b ; and Danish, 16s to 16s 6c per 3291b. Demand for New Zealand beans hai for the present entirely subsided, and quota tions are nominal. The Riniutaka has brough 702 sacks of seed, and the Star of Australia 11< sacks of peas, both shipments from Lyttelton. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantils Agency Company tell me that there is a little better demand for oats, with a good inquirj for the Danish qualities, but the finer descriptions are not quits in such request. Beans ano peas are in rather better demand. The cocksfoot market keeps firm, with a limited demand. According to the Nat.onal Mortgage and Agency Company 1875 casks of tallow have been offered at the last three auction sales, and 701 casks have been cleared. The demand has been very quiet, and prices show a decline of 6d to 9d per cwt. on all descriptions. Imports during the past three weeks include 579 casks from New Zealand. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company remark that small unattractive catalogues were ?gain placed before buyers, and with the Home melt of good quality in large supply, the demand has been poor, and prices have declined fully 6d per cwt. At the close there is a little more inquiry, and it would appear probable that prices are nearing a point at which the downward movement will be arrested. Messrs Gordon, Woodroffe, and Co. say that the flax mariet has been steady but quiet, with only a limited business pas-sing, chiefly in second-hand parcels. Good, fair FebruaryMarch is quoted at £32 ss. February-July shipment good, fair Wellington, equal monthly shipments, sold at .£32, which is present spot value. Fair Quality is quotsd from 10s to JEI per ton less. I am informed by the National Mortgage and Agency Company that New Zealand pelts, consisting for the most part of old season, continue to sell about late rates, with only a moderate demand. Arrivals have been comparatively email. Tlie few heavy slreep pelts of good quality available sell readily at full prices. No lamb pelts of th« seasoiLiave yet come forward. To the_ National Mortgage and Agency Company I am indebted for information concerning each of the following items of produce: — There w?.s a fair demand for basils at the last Bake, but no material change occurred in values. In the absence of sales there is nothing to report" in connection with woolled sheepskins. The sales of labbitsMns are now in progress. The quantity catalougued includes 494 bales from New Zealand. For frozen rabbits iihe demand has been quiet, with a tendency to fall off, and as considerable stocks are still on hand, which 'holders are anxious to clear before the new season rabbits from Australia come to hand, the tendency of pricas has been in a downward direction. There have been no fresh arrivals from New Zealand.. At the last sale of hides there was only a moderate demand, and heavy descriptions did not meet ■with competition. New Zealand bull hides sold at 4|d. ?nd seconds at 3sd rier lb. There waa a good inquiry "for leather, with Sam rates ruling.
