[What knowest tihoTi of inward tears, Of wounds that show- no blood, The inarticulate cry of years, The striving to be understood? "What knowest thou of poet's brain, The 'hunger of eluded thought, The smart of the chaotic pain With which some souls are fraught? Y'h&t knowest thou of silent passion. The struggling for control, When anguished singings fail to fashion The life-song of the soul? "What knowest thou of want and dearth Wiko never felt the pain Of knowing that this nanow earth. Can ne'er thy want contain? [What knowest thou of restless sighing, Of aspirations undefined, Of poor dumb souls in sadness crying For the voice they cannot find? Thou knowest naught, yet dare deride Heart-broken bards with scoff and jeer, iWho laid their whispering harps aaide Because their voices none would hear.
