Country Sales. — Messrs Dalgety 9nd Co. (Limited) report having held a clearing sale of dairy cows, etc., on. account ot Mrs A. Craig (Maur.gatua) at her farm on Monday, the 14th li'Sfc. There was o^ly a fair attendance of buyers, and this no doubt was to ba accounted for by harvesting operations, which were in full swing at tho time. Nevertheless, nearly every person present was a buyer, and al! good, yourg cows, close to profit or in full milk, met with^ splendid competition, and biought very satisfactory prices. On the other haiid, old cows and backward heifers were slow of sale. There was a good gathering of settleis fiom the surrounding districts, and buyers from B-il-clutha, Warepa, Waiwera. Clinton, ard Gore, all of whom were apparently on business b?r-k. Our entry of cattle, which was much smaller than the averagfe muster at this flourishing centre, lep.dily changed hands at prices in favour of vordors. We yarded 50 head steer*, cows, heifers, and calves. Heifers i:i calf realised £5 15s to £G ss; two-year-old steers (small), £> to .SI 7s 6d to £3; ixr;cl r few T-ol!-blecl h-ifov? lip tc £6; con-s (back calvers), £1 to 25; calves. 153 to 275.
