Notes from Roxburgh.

JFhou Ora Own Correspondent.)

ROXBURGH, February 9. The weather continues very dry, and. the river is still giadually falling.

A case of great interest to dredgemasters is down for bearing m the local Magistrate's Court next Thursday, when the dredgemaster of PriDgle's dredge, at Miller's Flat, is to appear m connection with the fatal diov/niug accident which took place in December last.

The Gold King Ko. 2 dredge started working again last Sunday night, and i° still in good wash.

The Tevioi clzeclge expects to got a start in obout three weeks' time. Good progress is being made with the overhauling of this dredge.

The Ettrick dredge is working on shallow ground opposite the Benger Stream. She will be stopped for two or three days next week, as

it has been decided to put in elevator rollers instead of slides.

Work is still being cairied on at the Ladysmith claim, although the water is getting scarce. The new plant is -working very well, and giving every satisfaction. Several small breakages in the race, caused by the severe thunderstorms which have passed over the district during the last few weeks, have all been repaired, and three shifts are now kept fully employed.

The comparatively small return from the Jubilee dredge was caused by the dredge working on ground which had already been worked by the Amalgamated Company. She is now taLmg a cut out into the river.
