Dr Bowie.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sic, — The frequency with, which tlw notices of Ihe doings cf Mr J. A. Dowie appear in our newspapers leads to the belief that the public is interested in tho subject, and that being co, of course one is justified in assuming that it desires tc know the truth. And so, reiyicg on your fairness, I take leave to send you an extract from an American paper on the subject.
A good deal has been written on the sub j cot of " Dowie's bankruptcy," and many people in Dunedin are much exercised — if we may judge by the anxiety ihey show to speak on the subject — to know wliat next ; and so, with your leave, I send you for publication a copy of a resolution passed by Mr Dowie's creditors.
Many of my friends are also much exercised about my reason for taking the )>ai*of (as they express it) suoh a fellow — although, by the bye, they do not ask m& directly Well, Sir, if you will permit me, I'll tell them. It is exactly tho same reason as would lead me to tell the truth about them if I knew they were being slandered, for even a " fellow" has the right to have tbe truth told about him. Very foolish of i<;e no doubt, they say: it only makes enemies for myself. Well, may be. May be they are wiser. My experience tells me rhey would not do it for me. — I am, etc., Jno. A. D. Adams.
The xollowmg resolution was unanimously adopted! at a meeting of the creditors of the Key. John Alexander Dowie, held in Zion City, Illinois, December 7, 1903 • — " After a thorough find exhaustive canvass of tho situation, it was the unanimous sense of the meeting that the P^ev. John Alexander Dowia was more than solvent by many millions of dollars, and that his intentions and ability to pay 100 cents to each and every creditor is above suspicion.
In view -of this conclusion, a petition was signed to the Honourable C. C. Kohlsaat, jud-e of the United States District Court, askiuV an unmediate dissolution of the Receivershia °and the restoration of all the property to the possession and management of the Eev. John Alexander Dowie, believing that only under his skmul management can the best resume b& accomplished."
