CHRISTCHUItCH, January 6. There was a fair entry of stock at the Addington saleyards to-day, and the usual attendance of buyers Fat Cattle.— The entry numbered ISG, and there was a fair demand at last week's rates, the price of beef ranging from 20s to 23s per 100-lb. Seven steers forwarded by Messrs H. J. and J. Buchanan's Kmloch Estate brought fiom £9 7s 6d to £9 15s, and 10 from Mr W. F. M. Buckley's rioon Hay Estate £9 10s to £10 2s 6d. Other steers lealised, fiorn £6 2s Gd to £10 2s 6d; heifers, £3 10s to £7 ss; cows, £5 5s to £7 7s Gd. Fat Sheep. — There was a good entry of fat sheep, and the yarding comprised some lines of particularly prime wetlAs and a fair number of good-quality ewes. The repoited increase m the price of frozen meat at Home enabled the export buyers to increase their limits, and they consequently secured the bulk of the wethers. This increased the competition amongst butchers for prime ewes, and prices advanced in consequence. For wethers the market was firm at lats rates. The range of prices was: Blest wetheis, lss to 21s 3d; lighter, 15s Gd to 17s 6d ; best ewes, 16s to 18s lOd ; others, lls Gd to 15s Gd. Store Sheep. — A small en+ry numbering 908 met with poor inquhy and a dragging sale. The chief sales were 50 wethers at 15s sd. 150 lambs at 10s Id, 41 lambs at lls; 176 lambs at 9s; 43 lambs at 8s lOd, 104 ewes and lambs at 8s 3d. Fat Lambs. — A large entry totalling 2859, including a large proportion of unfinished sorts. The market was again easier all round, and export buyers purchased a large number of pens. The range of prices was : Freezing lambs, 12s to 15s 6d ; tegs, to 16s 6d ; butchers', 12s to 15s lOd ; unfinished, 10s 6d to 12s. Pigs. — There was a fair entry, including some prime sorts. The demand was not particularly keen, but stores were firm in comparison. The range of prices was : Baconers, 44s to 55s 6d, equal to 4d per 1L ; porkeis, 30s to 38s 6d, equal to 4^d to 5d per lb ; large stores, 25s to 325 ; medium, 14s to 225 ; weaners, IDs to 14s.
