REPORTS FROM WORKING DREDGES.
Mr John White reports a return from ihe Round Hill Mining Company for the month of December of 1520z 17dwt of gold, valued a& I £603 3s 2d. Mr John Hughes (of Liverpool, j England), a director of the company, is at present on a visit to New Zealand, and is now at j Round Hill j The secietary of the Golden Run Di edging I Company leporf-s a return of 4-2oz for the i week's work. Before closing down 101 the J holidays the dredgemaster washed iiy> 220z for 60 hours' work. This is not included m the 420z. Tup secretary of the Clyde Gold Dredging Company reports a return of 18oz for 100 hours' work. The master stated (.hat this includes the time occupied in opening out a fresh paddock. secretaiy of the Otago Gold Dredging reports a leturn of 2Doz for 112 hours' work from the No. 1 dredge. The No. 2 machine is undergoing a number of repairs. The secretary of tho Golden G?te Dredgiog Company leports a return of 16oz 12dw(, for the ■week's work. The master staled that the river was sterdy. The Rise ami Shine return is 12oz for a broken week, mainly spent m opening out the cut eastwaiO in order to facilitate coaling. The diedgemaster leports that the dredge is now on good wash on a so?+ pug bottom. The master of the Enfield dredge repoits a return of 17oz 14dwt for 104 houis' work. The face was about seven chains wide, and there was a little lock bottom on each side of the cut, -while the ground was 21ft deep. The I dredge was woikmg ■nei'. ! The master of the Wattcr*oii's-Ahaura dredge reports a return of Coz for tlarse days' work. Tha dredge was working well, but h?d not nottomed. The secretary of the Happy Valley Gold Dredging Company reports a return of 17oz I 12dwt for the week's work. The matter stated I that the leturn was obtained from tlie Cranley j s.de o; the cat, and that the d.-edge was work1 ing well. I Th 3 secretary of the Island Block Gold ■ Dredging Company repoits a return of 19oz 1 odwt for last weeit's woik from the dredge. ! A reiurn of 2150z 17dwt is reported from the sluicing claim. With this yield included the return for 11 weeks' work is 2660z. Mr L. Ryan, Alexandra, reports the follow- ' ing returns-— Perseverance No. 1 dredge, 51oa 13dwt Hgr for the •week's work, Peiseverance No. 2 diedge, 290z 13dwt 14gr for the week's work. on Sunday night, January S. The paddock being full of silt, it took until the following Tuesday to bail it out. The river is now fairly low, and there being little diift travelling the dredges are able to get over a good deal of bottom.
