The first game of the bowling season was played on the Caledonian Cub's green on Saturday. Perfect boding weather prevailed, but in consequence of fo many clubs having selected the same afternoon for opening, the visitors from sister c'.ubs were not as numerous as usual. There were, however, a good many onlookers, who, though not actually bowlers themselves, take an interest in the game, and also a number of ladies. The green was looking remarkßbly well, thank 3to the attention ot Mr E. C. Hocking, the greenkeeper. and, while it was evidently a trifle heavy, which was only to be expected, at played veiy true. the vice-presidents, who had opposed to him Mr J. A. Kirby, another vice-president.
