HEDGEHOPE.

Octobsr 25 — Never has "Your Own" seen Hc-d^ehope >-o green as at the present time. The few wet days we experienced at the end of last week have brought on vegetation splendidly, and Nature has nut on her moat verdant

hue. The weather is again beautiful ; in fae s we could not have had a belter spring.

Lambing. — The lambing season is about over, and the percentage is above the average. I have heard of one lot which 'reached ISO per cent., and in most cases it has been over 100. Dairying. — The dairy factory will be going full time next week. The supply is rising rapidly, as the fine weather and good pasture are not without effect on the dairy cow. It gives quite a business air to our little community to see so many milk carts rattling along to the factory in the mornings. Fire.— The" Titipua Flaxmilling Company were unfortunate enough to have part of their flaxmilling plant as well as a considerable amount of fibre destroyed by fire on the 11th inst. The loss will be great, as there was no insurance. How the fire originated is not kn-own.

Bachelors' Ball.— The bachelors gave their annual ball in the hall on the night of the 16th. Notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather (it simply poured all the evening and night), there was a good turn-out, about 40 couples taking the floor for the grand nyirch. The hall was tastefully dacorsitod, and the bachelors were untiring in their efforts to make their guests enjoy themselves. That they succeeded is beyond question, as all went home highly pleased with the night's enjoyment. Excellent music was supplied by Messrs Carrol (piano), Lang and O'Shannessy (violins), and the duties of M.C. were ably performed by Mr W. M'Rae.
