(.From Oub. Own Corhesi>onde>;t.) ROXBURGH, August 12. A gocl thaw set in yesterday, and continues to-day, and the snow is rapidly disappearing from the i singes. All the ciee-ks are very high, but the river has not been affected so far. I The Ladysmith Company, which has been • stripping duiifig the past week, commenced ! sluicing pgain to-day. I The Endeavour dredge is working steadily at the bottom of the gorge below tne Roxburgh , budge, but has not bottomed so far. j Mr G. M'Donald has been appointed master of thr Melba. dredge in place of Mr Fitzgerald, who left here this morning for Canada. August 13. Tho river commenced to rise last evening, and .has bee - i going up ever since, having risen I so far about 10ft, and a. great dea! more in j the goiges. It is now higher than it was all . lost summer. Great quantities of timber and ! rubbish have been going down all day. The weather is very mild here, and a warm rain fell through the night. The snow has mostly dieappeared from the Mount Benger, Old Man, and Knobby Ranges. The Endeavour dredge had. to stop work last night through the Tise in the river, and the Roxburgh Jubilee stopped at midday. All the other dredges working in the current have also had to stop. The Golden Run dredge is repairing this ( week.

] August 15. The river is going down again gradually, and somo of the dredges will be starting on Monday. The manager of the Roxburgh Jubilee dredge is taking advantage, of the high river to do some repairing, but expects to start in a day or two. \ The Gold King dredge is also stopped today repairing. The Endeavour dredge will be unable to do much where she started to open a week ag"©-, as there is a lot of drift Tunning there now since the riso in the river.
