CANTERBURY MARKETS.
Christchurch grain and produce report (Ly^ttelton Times, Bth inst.)- — The local grain markets continue extremely dull. In wheat the only apparent change is that offerings- are, if anything, scarcer than before. Yesterday a line of Tuscan changed hands at 3s BJd per bushel, at Springston, but sales arc- exceedingly limited. In regard to offal, although rnillerV quotations for pollard and bran stand at £i 10s and £3 10s respcctivelv, large orders can only be obtained at a considerably lower figura in each case. Bran had receded to about £2 10s, and it waß reported in Dunedin that a3 low as £2 73 6d had been given, but the market is now considerably firmer, and £Z' per ton probably represents its present value for shipping. In the south a good deal has been sent up the country to feed sheep, farmers rightly giving it preference to chaff for their stock at existing values. Tho position in regaid to oats exhibits little improvement. Further efforts to do business with South Africa have failed, and so fni as 'ong oats are concerned, the market is easier, though short oat?
