A physician savi that nausea has its seat in tho brain and not in the stomach, and that relief may be obtained by cooling the base of the brain. He claims, to have tested this often omd thoroughly in the case of sick headache.
An eminent physician, of Paris cures the nervous headaches of his patients by prescribing a haircut in each case. The result is basedi on the faob that tho tube whioh passes through the entire length of each eingle> hair is severed! in >tlie process, and the hair "bleeds," as the barbers say, thereby opening a safety valve for the congested cianium.
The use of too liard a hrush is a frequent cause <3f dandruff. But it is also caused by general debility ; in fac^ the hair is in such
olose sympathy with the body that anything that affects the latter is sure to act prejudioally on the former. In case of premature greyness it is always wise to consult a doctor^ as the taking of a. suitable tonio will often bring the hair back to its original colour. Hot baths can be advocated as more invigorating -than the cold plunge. A German physician, -who advocates the system, explains that the water should bo at a temperature in the beginning of 108deg Faftr., this to be increased until the water is as hob as can be borne. The icngfch of the first bath should) not be more than five minute:?, and at no time should it be longer than is agreeable, with no sense of discomfort apparent. What does the nervous mother ask for herself in moments when nerves are strained by pain or over- excitement of any kind? "Rest, 'she chiefly demands. "Leave- me. Let mo have quiet, darkness. Freedom, from all effort." HVd accord the nervous 'baby exactly tho opposite treatment. "We nn?wer as if entroated, ''Rook me; toss me. Shako rattles at me. Sing to me, shout, jump at me. Show me a light, anything to keep me awake and excited." The noxious flavour of some medicines is, with certain persons, a l>ar to their proper administration. Tho following are a few harmle-s mediums for disguising the flavour: A 'ittlo extract of liquorice disguiece the taste of aloes, peppermint water that of salts, milk modifies the bitter flavour of Peruvian bark, and cloves that of senna. Oaistor oil cannot be tasted if beaten up well with the white of egg. Cod liver oil may be taken thus: — Rinse a 'glass of hot water; partly fill it with orange w.me; carefully put the oil on the top ; a little orange peel should be nibbled; then tosa off the draught ; before dosing the mouth wipe the lips with tissue paper and take a little more peal.
