THE AUBURN TRAGEDY
. ♦ SYDNEY, July 5. On the strength of a petition from counsel who defended Grand and Jones on the charge of murdering Constable Long, at Auburn, a special meeting of the Cabinet was held to-day to consider the postponement of the execution fixed for to-morrow. The ground of the petition makes serious allegations regarding the veracity of the evidence of the wituess Woolford. The Cabinet decided that the law should take its course in the case of Grand and Jones.
