NEW ZEALANDERS IN SYDNEY,

At a largely-attended meeting of New Zoalanders, held in the School of Arts Hall, Syd»ey, to consider arrangements for the reception and entertainment of the New Zealand representative football team arriving in Sydnoy, th» chair was taken by Mr "W. E. Woods, and in the audience were at number of ladies and many prominent Sydney citizens. Apologies were read from several ladies and gentlemen unable- to attend, but promising assistance. On the motion of Mr G. J- Bruce, seconded by Mr E. D. Hoben, it m* resolved that it was desirable to accord the visiting New ZealarM representative football team a suitable reception and Entertainment on their visit to Sydney in July next, and that a committee be formed to carry out the purpose. The following committee was then elected, with power to add to its number — viz. : Mrs Purchase, Misses Kimbell (2), Messrs W. E. Woods, G. J. Bruce, J. Cote Edwards, E. Gormley. E. D. Hoben. J. C. Masters,

J. T. Shaw, Robert Bell, G. Murray Campbell, A. Dillon Bell, A. D. Henderson, T. J. Comber, J. C. Rankin, C. D. Jones, J. Pauling, J. F. Carey, R. Appleby, J. J. K. Taylor, J. A. Fraser, A. Sheffield, W. A. Lumsden, T. K. Rosewaxne, F. Wynne Jones, C. Galloway, H. G. Braddon. The form that the entertainment should take, was discussed at length, and eventually left in the hands of the committee to decide. The idea of establishing a permanent New Zealand Club in Sydney was suggested by Mr G. J. Bruce, who intimated that he bad been keeping a register of New ZeaJanders living in Sydney who were prominent in commercial and oivio life, and had already over a hundred names and addresses registered. The names were re»d to the meeting. The suggestion was warmly received, and it was decided to keep the idea in view. The committee elected sne^at the close of the laTger meeting. Messrs W. E. Woods, G. J. Bruce, and J. Cole Edwards were elected chairman, secretary, and treasurer respectively.
