LEAGUE OF WHEELMEN.
CHRISTCHURCH, July 2.
At a meeting of the Council of the League of New Zealand Wheelmen to-night tho Federal Cycling Council of Australia notified the league that it had d-ecided to recognise New Zealand riders competing in Australia, providing its usual action was reciprocated. The New Zealand Council decided to recognise Australian riders competing in New Zealand. The PaJ-m-erston North Cycling and Athletic Club was affiliated. It was decided to call upon certain amateurs to produce trophies according to the rules. It was decided to suggest to the two clubs in Palmerston North to combine to form a centre for the Manawatu district. Notice of motion was given that the league assume control of automobile racing. It was decided to issue a. circular to unaißliated sports promoting bodies in the North Island and the "West Coast of the South Island pointing out the advantages of holding all cycle races under the league's auspices, and agreeing to arrange during the coming season circuits of race meetings at which the leading " ciaoks" of the colony wo .Id compete, and a.t which motor comppititiona will also be c. feature. In pursuance of this policy it was decided to a.pooint fi. Nordon as a special representative of the oounoil to visit the South Island and "West Coast with the object of personally interviewing the various sports bodies and making arrangements for their meetings being held under league rules.
