OTAGO LAND BOARD.

The usual meeting of the Otago Land Board, held on Wednesday afternoon, was attended by Mr D. Barron (chief commissioner), Messrs Clark, Duncan, Dallas, and Kirkpatrick.

Alfred O'Kcefe applied for a grazirg license over about three acre 3 fronting section 36, block I, Beaumont district, mining reserve. — Referred to Mr M'Lean to report.

A letter was received from Herdman and Kirk in regard to an application msde by GeoTge Hodgins fo* a lease in perpetuity over section 8, block VT, Xaacby district, at present held by him under occupation license. — Section to be offered on lease in perpetuity, and to be burdened with valuation for improvements as assessed by the r auger

Ranger O'Neill reported on section 6, block VI, Oatlin's district, and suggested that the section be withdrawn from sale in the meantime. — Section to be reserved in the meantime a-s suggested.

Mr M. L'Lea.n reported on the application by Joseph Gunn for a grazing license over 40 acres of the mining reserve in block X, Waitahuna West district. — Grazing license granted at rent of 20s per annum.

Thomas Tate applied for a license to occupy sections 18 and 21, block VI, Rock and Pillar district. — Grazing license granted at rental of 30s per annum.

Tho Surveyor-general wrote approving of the proposal to take a road through sections 24ft and 25a, Bamego Settlement, and to the suggested adjustments of rentals of the sections. — Held over.

John Herriott wrote requesting that the valuation for lmproveinsnts on section 2, block X, Porn-ahaka Downs Estate, be reduced. — Declined.

Consideration was givon to the application by George Manson for an occupation lease under the Mining Districts Land Occupation Act over 100 acres in block I, Bannockburn district. The warden forwarded a report. — Granted, subject to survey, rent to be 7Ad per acre.

John Donaldson wrote objecting to the Tu*peka County Council removing gravel from his small grazing run, section 6, block XIV, Benger district. — Complaint to be referred to the Tuapeka County Council.

Robert Gunion wrote on behalf of the Alexandra Poultry Company, increasing the area on Run No. 221 a, applied for by the Company. — Held over pending survey of the run. Robert Lawrence wrote in regard to tho noxious weeds on section 51, block X, Poinahaka Downs Estate, and asking the board to gTant him some assistance in clearing the land of the same. — Received.

W. A. Wing wrote requesting the board to reconsider its decision declining to grant his application for an occupation lease under " The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act, 1P94," over 50 acres in Blackrnan's Gul'y, Run No. 249.— Received

Consideration was mad» of Michael O'Brien's application to purchase section 57, block XIX, Shotover district. The warden forwarded a report.—Tho Government to bo requested to allow the completion of purchase of this land.

A. G. Mathias applied to purchase section 21, block TV, Upper Taien district, at present held by him under yearly license.— Held over. The Tuapoka County Council forwarded a statement of pioposed expenditure of ' thirds " and " fourths " for period sth January to 31st MaTch, 1903.— Approved.

James Barr applied for a license to occupy section 21, Town, of Waikoikoi, lecreation reserve. — The ranger to inspect when next in the locality. The Under-i=ecTeta.ry for Lands intiinited that Mr Wilham Dallas has been re-appointed a member of the Land Board — Received Application waa mode to transler land held under occupation license — Section 10, block XI. TautuVu district, ilark Comber to John Kirkland.— Approved. Application was made for cancellation of lease — Sections 25 ar.d 26, block I, Upper Wakatrpu district, Peter Mackenzie — Surrender not to be considered, lent bong in arrears. Application wa9 made for the purchase of land held under agricultural lease .—Section 53, b^ock 111, Cromwell district, George. Scott (A. M. Brodrick, sobcitor). — Granted. Application was made to transfer land held under small gTazing run lease: — Sections 2, block 11, sections 1 and 3. block 111, section 1, block VII. section 2, block VIII, Kokanui dutnet, and eection 9, block XIV, Kyeburn district, John. Mulholland to Donald MTjenna-n (Herdman and Kirk, solicitors).— Approved. Application was made to transfer half interest in lease in perpetuity: — Sections 33, block VI, section 36, block 11, and section 42, block VII, Maruwenua district, Tokorahi Settlement, "William Wallace to John Hendry Wallace. -Approved.
