REEPTON, June 16. Tho following aro tho mine managers' Teports for the week • — New Scotia. — Tho intermediate level has been driven 12ft. We are now driving along the eastern wall of the reef, and will cut across tho reef next week to see if there is iany improvement 111 the quality We havo coinmeaiced to open out on a small reef. Industry. — Tho reef opened out to 4ft of clean stone from the top to the bottom of tho face. I can get very fair prospects from any part of it. It seems to be still opening out. Alpine Extended Company. — The south level along the line of reef has been extended lift ; total distance from the shaft, 122 ft. On Tuesday last wo cut 2ft of stone carrying fair gold. We havo cross-cut into the hanging wall 9ft going south. We have the end of the stone. The principal part is north of our cross-cut. Wo have timbered up and made provision to go norLh as well as south The reef going north is about 2ft oin. and is carrying very fangold. June 20. The Alpine Company's mine manager reports- — " No. 12 level south has been extended 22ft for the week, making 52ft along the reef track and 144 ft from tho Ehaft. There is a good track about 3ft wide going south, with bunchas of quartz in it. I will start driving north 011 it on Monday next." Juae 22. The Industry Company's mine manager re-ports-—The level has been extended Bft for the week, making the distance driven on stone 20ft. The average width of the stone is 3Jft. At present the reef is smaller, but has every appearance of widening. I got very fair prospects fiom the stone during the week. The New Scotia Company's mine manager reports. — The stope has been driven north from the winze 15ft. The average width of the reef is 3ft ; payable stone. We stepped driving the level on Wednesday, and ro3e for the stopc. Tho reef if 4ft wide. Thirty-five tons have been put in the shaft paddock. We commence trucking to the battery on Monday. Crushing operations at New Inkerman mines are now in full awiiipr, and everyone is looking forward to the result. Tins company spent a considerable amount of money in the development and the erection of a battery and cyani-do plant, and it is hoped will be amply rewarded for th? outlay. The Kirwan's Reward Gold Mining Company (Victoria Range) has had to close down owing to the heavy snowfall preventing operations being carried on.
