The Amalgamated Society of Engineers j directed the Glas-gow District Committee 1 to refund the £1 per member disbursed ; by them during the recent Clyde strike. 1 The committee refused. The Arnalga- \ mated Society thereupon directed the trustees of the various branches to remit their funds to headquarters or be expelled. The local engineers threaten to j leave the society, on the ground that i they were misdirected from London in regard to the strike, and also owing to the tyranny to which they are being subjected.
