' Tho rcgu'ar monthly meeting of the Otagd Soliool Commissioners was held on the 16th ; 1 present — Messrs D. Barcoa (chairman), T. Mao Gibbon, D. Borrie, W. Dallas, and the Hon, A. Baldey. The Commissioners confirmed the special resolution of tlio meeting held on Alay 19, agree- | ig to accept sairender of sections 19 to 23, 28 to 30, and 33, block IX, Waikaka district, from Joseph Davidson, jun. J. K. D. D. Allison applied for leave to> transfer lease of section 36, block XV, Jacobs Eiver Hundred, to Charles Creamer. — Granted on the usual conditions. An application was received from "W. P. Inder, on behalf of Holland and party, for permission, to sink soma bores on the Waika-ia Hiil Bun, for the purpoeo of prospecting for coal. — This, together with an application" from John Nelson for coal-mining li&enso on "Wadkai& Hill Bun," was granted," subject; to the consent of the pastoral lessee ; position to ba ' defined by Mr J. L. M'Donald. C. H. Howorth, C.E., wiote asking for authority to expend an additional sum of £20 on repairs to groins at Cattle Plftt.— The Chairman reported that ac the matter waa urgent he had, after conferring with. Mr MacGibbbon, authorised Mr Howorth to pioceed.— Approved. Walter Henderson, lessee of section 6, block XXX, township of Hawksbury, applied for per* mi3sioix to transfer to Alex. Krigour.— Granted on the usual conditions. An application from Thomas Kelly to purchase or lease section 5, block IX, Mataura town, was considered, and dt waa decided to reply to the effect that as the section referred to is a school site, application should be made to tho Education. Board. Janet F. Beck, lessee of section 22, block IV, Aparima Ilundrcd, applied for leave, to transfer to John Dickson. — Granted. Elizabeth M'Dona.!d applied for consent to transfer lease of sect on 1 of 2d6, Hokonui, to Richard Wilson.— Granted. J. L. M'G. Watson applied for leave to trans* fer lease of section 9, block VIIIb, "VWnton, from John Millard to F. A. Gaffney. — Granted. The Southland agent foTwarded conditions of sale for some leases to be offered at Invercargill on the 30th .mst., and stated that as Thos. M'Kinnell has arranged to take np section 42, block VIII, Waikaia district, it had been withdrawn.— Approved. A letter was read from Jame3 Blaikio offering to define the position of dividing fence of section 3, block VII, Waikaia district, for the sum of £8. — Approved, provided the Chief Surveyor consents. A letter was received from the manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Invercargill, applying, on behalf of D. X. il'Hae, lessee of section 6, block I, and section. 22a, block I, Mokoteta, for reduction of rent on account of Cahfornian ihasfcles. — Held over till November meeting, Messrs Baldey and Mac Gibbon to inspect and report. James Henderson, mortgagor of section 9, — block Till, district of WendoJ, wrote applying for reduction in price of kind, and stating if the coinmis3ionar3 do not give him any assistance he will lay the matter before the Minister of Lands. — Received; the writer to be referred to previous resolution. The Chairman reported that he had authorised Mr Nelson, the Bruce County engineer, to repair damage to the embankment at Mtb Pattei son's reserve at Waipon, caused by recent heavy rains. — Approved. The Southland agent stated, in reference to the supply of drain tiles to tenants, that in most cases he relies on the integrity of the tenant regarding the disposal of tiles, and that if he has any doubt on the subject he takes steps to satisfy himself.— lt was resolved that Mr M'Donald be instructed to in future inspect positions of tiles when laid, or otherwise satisfy; himself that the work has been carried out. The Southland agent suggested that the area of seven acres reserved from section 81, bjock I, Wendon, for mining, should be included in le-Pfs to T. Hickey.— Suggestion approved. An application, from C Creamer for 600 C* 700 6-iach drain tiles for section 3G, block XV, Jacobs Riven: Hundred, was granted, subject to inspection. Accounts amounting to £23 C 3 Od were passed for, payment. *
