June s.— The heavy weather of the last week or two has done no particular damage. Nearly all ithe local cropa were safely stacked some little time before. Ploughing had begun, buj nothing much will be don* for a few days yeS until the ground has lecovered from its thorough soaking^. Sohool Matters. — Owing to the illness of the headmaster, Mr J. SmitJi, the committee <Ie» cided to give the mid-winter holidays Consequently the children, are enjoying a, fortnight* off. It 19 to be hoped that our teacher will be able to re&ume 1m work at the expiration of ihe holidays. A seaman from town was recently engaged to climb our flag polo and. place v. wire rope in position for the carrying of the flag. His efforts, however, were unsuccessful, as his arm. was weak, and unfitted ham. for the task of pulling himself up the 100 ft pole. Mutual Improvement Society. — This society was inaugurated recently for the purpose of helping our young people to spend the long: rveniugs of winter in a profitable way. Th* interest and attendance give promise of useful work being done. Wedding Bells. — At the house of Mr Cfeorgo Campbell, on the 27th May, the marriage o£ Miss Daisy Campbell to Mr D. Howatson (of Clarksville) took place. The ceremony wa3 performed by the Rev. G. Budd, and was extremely interesting to the fuends and relatives assembled. In a large marquee, the wedding breakfast was spread, to which some 80 or 90 guests sat down. A large number of presents were on view, among them being a very, pretty present to Miss Campbell from the Milburn Church choir, of which she h:ia been an active member since its inception.

Successful Competitors. — Messis Rusael', James Grey, and Smith, of this district, were among the successful competitors at tho winter show of the Toko. Farmers' Club. Mr Russell succeeded in winning, for tlie second time, tho M'Gill trophy for wheat, and tiui= becomes i's ownei.
