May 2.— That all-important consideration, the weather, has been veiy favourab'e foi all farm \\ork for the past foitniglit. Threshing and ploughing for autumn-sown wheat have gone on at a good pace. Many paddocks are now nearly ready for seed, a"d shou'd the weather keep fine, a fair amount of tho 'and mil be =o\vn in a week or ten days' ('.mc. A heavy fog has been hanging around foi a, cou;i'e of days, v. hich indicates rain.
Presentation — On Thursday last a large numb?r of res dents met in the Defence hall to bid good-bye to the l»dy teacher (M-ss Livmgbiotie), who is leaving this district for a better appointment at Kaitangala. The hall was ive'l hlk-d, in evidence of the appreciation felt for the elepailing gue?t. At 8 p.m. tho school children filed on to the strge, keeping good 'line to a maich, played on the oijjan by Miss l-.i\ lrgstone, and sang "Poor old Jos" very Tiico y. The Rev P S. Tho children then went t'irough jonie exercises, after v. h'ch the secretary, Mr W. Mr Stewart (master), on bthaif of Miss Livingstone, thanked the spcakeis for thfir kindness, and also all the so who hud shown their tppTecLilion of Mi°s Livingstone's services while here. Miss Cu'len then sang "The pleasure of living m the country," the rest of the children taking up the chorus. Tea and cakes, of which there were plenty, were then handed round, and after all had been satisfied a vo'.e of thanks to the chair closed a veiy enjoyable meeting. Miss Livingsfore will be greatly lmssed by the very young ch'lelrcn, who were, one and all greo-tiy attached to her.
Kokoama — I hear that the sixth [annual school concert at this^ cen'.re comes off on the 14.th inst., it being in aid of the so-hoo! funds.
