A CLEARING SALE.
NAPIER, April 7. An important clearing sale of sheep, shorthorn cattle, draught horses, etc., at Mr G. P. Donnelly's Turamoea Station, was held to-day. Over 10,000 sheep were sold, and realised the following prices: — Two, (four, and six-tooth crossbred wethers (fat), up to 13s 2d; four end six-tooth halfbred wethers (come-back stores), 7s 9d; two and four-tooth Romney cross wethers (stores), 9s; full-mouth ewes (stores), 4s 9d ; Leicester cross ewe lambs (stores), 5s 3d ; forward wether lambs, 4s 9d to 6s 9d. The cattle were from a milking strain, and sold well ; 18 months forward steers brought £4 up to £4 158 ; cows in calf, £6 ; two and a-half-year-old heifers (in calf), £5 16s, £5 15s, £5 2s 6d, and £4 17s 6d ; two and a-half year steers, £0 2s 6d; store bullocks, £6; forward bullocks, £7 Is; cows (fat, dry), £5 15s; draught fillies and geldings, two to four-year-olds, unbroken, up to £22 10s. The total amount realised by the sale was £10,685 — cattle being £5644, sheep £3871, horses £1065, implements and sundries £105. There was a large attendance of buyers, including some from Dannevirke, Palmerston North, and the west coast.
