PRESENTATION TO DR GORDON MACDONALD.

There was a laTge gathering of members of the Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., in the Smart Street Hall on Friday evening, March 20, the occasion being a presentation to the lodge's popular medical officer, Dr Gordon MacdonaJd, in recognition and appreciation of his services during the past 18 years. N.G. Bro. J. 0. Hopcraft presided, and made the presentation, on behalf of lodge members, of a solid silver salver, bearing the inscription, fcur■rooimted by a thistle : " Presented to Mr R. Gordon Macilouald, M.D., in recognition and appreciation of valued services rendered to the Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., for a period of 13 years. Dunedin, December 31, 1G02."' During the evening, in addition to the Chairman, P.P.G.M. Bro. Sligo, P G. Bro. J. Broadfoot, and Bro. J. W. Roberts also •addressed those present, the spe-akers all expressing- the regret felt by members that the doctor was severing his connection with the lodge. Dr Maedonald replied in hapny vein, eulogising the good work of Friendly Societies, and the singing of "Auld lave syne" broucht proceedings to a close.
