A DESCRIPTION.

Let me finish this sketch of the conversation of the princess, in ■which she so frankly reveals herself, by a description of her appearance and manner as she spoke to the journalist who has given her story to the public. Her brow is broad and lofty — evidently showing keen intelligence ; her eyes are the violet blue which is so characteristic of the Austrian Royalties ; she has the somewhat long nose which is common in the face of the German lady ; her air is not in the least coquettish; it suggests the sentimental woman, and not the flirt. Here is how she looked to another journalist who had an opportunity of speaking to her : A simple, charming lady in an ordinary mauve silk blouse attached at the neck by a diminutive brilliant r l>rooch, and a tweed, English-made walking skirt without pleat or trimming of any kind. She wore medium-sized pearl earrings and a few small rings on the tiny, shapely hands. Her hair was dressed in the simplest fashion, and her manner of speech was as simple as her dress. ~ One of the things in the interviews which is rather saddening, and at the same time not wholly unamusing, Is the view the princess takes of her future. She says that she finds consolation in thinking of the future ; it is that she is going to work, andto work for an honest living. "Yes," &he .■ays, "I am going to work." "It was not till she pronounced these words," says the French journalist, "that there came over her face a shadow of a smile ; it was chased soon by a look of sadness that seemed co be called up by the prospect of the morrow."
