On Thursday lasrt the two local clubs.'Oamaru and Phoenix, played an interclub match, four rinks a-side, on the former's green, which was; in good order. The afternoon was fine, buti a strong nor'-west wind made the play at tho early stages of the game uncertain. The match, was keenly contested, and although the Oamaru players went away with a strong lead, their opponents gradually reduced the same until only 4 points were required tr win, with two heads to play in the last rink. At the twentieth head the Phoenix scored a single. Final head: Bee's first bowl lay beside kitty; S. Mollison, however, with a fine shot shifted his opponent's and lay shot. Bee's next just failed to score, but lay second. Hollison's next was narrow and strong. Heron with his first bowl tapped! the winning shot and lay hinuelf. Paterson failed with both shots to get the shot, Heron's second going to the back. Procter with his first drew the third shot; M'Farlane with a. fast one missed the jack, and Procter's next stopped the draw. M'Farlane again failed to save, and Potter with his first -was narrow and scarcely up. B. Mollison with a beautiful shot ran past kitty, while Potter (who by this time had divested lrinself of hat and coat) playecl his last bowl well up into Mollison's draw". The latter again failed to score, and thus tha Phoenix snatched a win by 1 point. The scores and players were as follows: — x Oaraaru. Phoenix." T. M. Cunnmghame J. Thorpe A. Mackay J.
