FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT.
Messrs Thomas Paterson and Co., fruit and produce agents, Manse street, report as follows for the week ending March 24, 1903 : — "Fruit. — Oranges: We are landing a large shipment from Rarotonga on Thursday, and expect prices to range about 7s 6d per case. Lemons: Messina, 18s 6d to 22s 6d. Bananas, 10s to 12s 6d per case. Apples: Dessert, 5s to 8s; cooking, 2s 6d to ss. Pears: Canterbury, 9s 6d to 5s 6d per case; Melbourne, 11s to 13s; local, over supplies, 3s 6d to 5s per case. Plums: Scarce; 'Canterbury grown, 4s 6d to 6s per half case ; Teviot, ljd to 2Jd. Tomatoes : Hothouse, 6d to 7d ; Nelson, 3d to 4d. Onions : Melbourne, 7s to - 8s; 'Canterbury, £4 15s to £5 ss. Rhubarb, 7s. Poultry. — Roosters, to 4s per pair; hens, 2s to 2s tid ; ducks, 3s 6d ; geese, 5s to 63 per pair. We receive consignments any day but Saturday.
