Notes from Reef ton. ( FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) REEFTON, December 21.
The Alpine Company's mine manager reports':—" The crosscut in No. 7 is now in 42ffc west. During the week we passed through numerous quartz- leaders and soft country. In. No. 10 south we .extended the level sft souths There is now 18in of stone in the face, with a, little gold in it. In the eastern level No. 11 south work has been suspended temporarily. In stopes north of the main shaft in the sama level there is 3ft of stone." The New Scotia mine manager reports fo* the week:— "No. 1 level has been driven 30£fc towards the Gallant winze. For the last 10ft there has been a co.od deal of bioken auaits
and leaders. The crosscut in ths Uaiiant ievej hxa been extended Bft, making 16ft from the drive. The greater part of this has been hard sandstone. " -A change is coming in to-day. About 10ft more driving should cut tae reei -showing Jtt .the -winze."
