Bella ir silvery tone are ringing, Cheerful voices carols singing-, Tells the story of -a Chllil Bora in Bethlehem, 'lone and wild; " -'' ' Hgr/ Peace on earth, goodwill towarqs men, O'er, craggy mountain, dale, and fen-^-. ■ - Christmas bells. ' Around the yule-log hearts do gather, • And "wandering ones with happy father, Whose eyes' parental love extols ; t A virtue above all excels The festive board and happy hoinejWith kind affection not to roam — .Christmas bells. The salt waves dash on rocky shore, On silver sand the billows roar; A ship is bounding o'er the main, The season's greetings come again ; Such sweetness of past memories move, And many wishes sent in love — Christmas bells. The summer flowers in bloom are glowing, Then fragrant perfume forth bestowing, Zealandia's homes a gladsome token, All lands in distance to be taken, "VVhere snowflakes fall in wintry masses The season's joy 'mid stormy clasheß-* Christmas bells. In forest glade with birdies singing, To fairy dells and waters rushing, As Nature's picture bright on canvas 1 , A season's greeting hearts encompass, And thoughts divint of earth's green verdure, The moments fly, intense oiu ardourChristmas bells. We mingle all the joy and sorrow, The merrj bells a bright to-morrow; And kindred feeling for all sadness-, One touch, of sympathy in our gladness.
