The Farmers' Union Deputation to the Premier.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— When the deputation from the South. Canterbury Farmers' Union waited on the Premier at Christchurch to lay before him the outlines of their scheme for the wider distribution of frozen meat, the reports in the papers said we had no scheme. Owing to limited time we could not gc intc details of the scheme, which has already appeared in your columns of October 15, aiid been commented on by "Agricola." One of our objects was to get some information from tho Premier re wider distribution of our meat, and in this we succeeded, the Premier's views being in accorJ with ours on the main points. Why are the farmers' unions in Otago so apathetic in this matter? This scheme was sent to them by the Colonial Executive for their consideration, and I have never seen that the Provincial Executive have ever met to consider it. The farmers' unions m Canterbury have taken the matter up, and are considering a further scheme of better control of our meat. — I am, etc., Akhrew Cleland. Sutherland, S.C., November 22.
