THE ATTACK ON KING LEOPOLD.
KEIR HARDIE ARRESTED IN MISTAKE. BRUSSELS, November 18. The police in their domiciliary visits in connection with the Anarchist attempt on the life of King Leopold, arrested Mr Keir Hardie, a member of the House of Commons, at the Hotel Waterloo at Brussels. Despite an offer to prove his identity he was conveyed to the police station, where his identity was shown, and he was immediately released. Mr Hardie lodges a protest- with the Foreign Office. Rubino, who fired at King Leopold, told the police that the monarchical idea was too rooted in England to tempt him to attack British royalty. He dared not do so, as the crowd would have torn him. to pieces. November 19. Rubino, the Anarchist, who fired at King Leopold, is shockingly cynical, but regrets that the death penalty is abolished. He has retained Sipido's advocate. LONDON, November 19. The authorities at .Scotland Yard s.tate that Rubino has no London confederates.
