DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.
Messrs "Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows:—We held our weekly sale on Saturday as usual. Thero was a better entry of horses than we have had for some weeks, although, with two or three exceptions, the class of stock offered was not first-claa3. Mr Edward Tubman's draught teams from Roxburgh were just out of work, and some of the horses showed signs of having done more than their fair shares of hard pulling. They were well known, however, and commanded considerable attention, the best of them fetching from £40 to £49, and the aged and stale horses from £19 to £37. A useful gelding from Mr John Aitkenhead, of Becks, brought £43 10s, and several oth-a- farm horses changed hands at from £33 to £47. Strjng, heavy, sound, and staunch draught horses, syrs to 7yrs old, are very scarce, and there are buyers in the market prepared to give from £50 to £60 for really first-class animals. Hordes of suitable weight and quality^ will readily command the prices indicated above. Spring-van and spring-dray horses of first-class stamp are also badly wanted. A number of useful light harness horses came forward this week, and most of them were sold. The principal sales were as follow:—Bay five-year-o'.d dog-cart horse, £27"; roan six-year-old buggy mare, £23; bay, aged, cab horse (good sort), £19; grey cob aged, suitable for basket horse, £14 10s, two ponies at £13 10s and £12 respectively; and se /eral aged harness horses at from £9 to £15 10s.
