Austral Light for November is a nice number, strictly on the usual lines, and quite up to the usual standard. With. the exception of the addition of some few illustrations each month, this magazine makes little or no attempt to widen its narrow circle or progress on any new lines.
The New Zealand Illustrated Magazine enshrines in those pages, entitled "' In the Public Eye," brief notices of Mr Seddon and Colonel Haultain. The serial stumbles along its gome what dreamy course, but a 6pirited, if cad, short story by G. B. Lancaster makes some amends. Miss Laura Stubbs describes the recent Coronation Naval Review from the vantage point of tho Royal Sovereign* decks ; ilso, this lady contributes '"'A Plea for Ladies' Clubs," «nd thereby creates a fresh interest in the lull corner devoted to " My Lady'p Bower." A nice little sketch of St. Hilda's Collegiate School, Dunedin, is contributed by Miss Hilda Keane, and a singularly unpleasant poem on "The Death of Cecil " Rhodes," by Arthur H. Adams.
Art in advertising takes many foims, and a very neat specimen of artistic advertising has been forwarded us by Messrs Kelson, Moat-e. and Co., in the shape of a booklet entitled *' The A B C of Golf." It contains a series of humorous drawings from Mr K. F. Hiscock's admirable reproduction by M'Kee and Co , on"! votaries of the game will appreciate the way in which its lighter side has been treated.
