BLACKSTONE HILL.
November 24. — The weather -was very dry, with high winds and frosty nights, up till the 20th, when we had a good soaking rain, which will do a great amount of good, as the crops are very backward. STining. — This industry is still being pushed ahead by those whe have water, but the dry sluicers are about idle for the want cf water. County Election.— The election resulted in our old member being returned, the polling being: Mr R. Johnstone, 31; Mr W. Marshall, 22. School. — Our school was examined on the l?tb by Mr Inspector Bossence, when «.ll passed with the exception of one. This speaks volumes for our teacher, Miss L. E. Spraggon, and also for tho ability of her pupils. The school has been recently painted outside, and looks very nice. The inside is, however, badly in need of a coat of paint also, but I suppose this tv-ill bo done later on, when the Government gets the handling of the next loan.
