Ariangements have now been made; mainly through the energy of Mr JameHiblop, of Dunedin, a member of the Bowling Association executive, by which the. northern bowlers will in all probability bo present at the tournament here. For somti years past the tournament has been confined to the Southern and Christchurch Clubs. The presence of teams from the north will add greatly to the success of the tournament, which should be a record one. Mr T Deschryver, of Toronto, the accredited representative of leading Canadian firms, and to some extent an envoy of the Canadian Government, is travelling through the colony in an effort to open, up business relations. He has reached OlnMchureh from the north, nnd intends to open sample room« in the four chief oei.tre«. He reports that the Canadian Government contemplates putting a line of. "•tpamers on the Australasian trade, and his int instigations lead him to believe that th« mo\e would be a sound one. He thinks that Xew Zealand would be able to place quite a number of lines in Canada.
