The nnnunl meeting of the above club w»« held in the Lawrence Council Chambers on Wednesday, August 27, there being a good attendance of members; Mr James Robertson, (vjce-president) in the chair. The minutes of the previous annual meeting wore read and confirmed. REPORT AND BALANCE BIIEET. The Secretary r«ad the annual repoit and balance sheet, whioh were as follows: — In presenting their nineteenth annual report ycur committee have much pleasure in con/gratulating the members of the club on its present satisfactory financial position. Tho receipts for the past 12 months have, with one exception, increased considerably, while the expenditure has remained about the same, the falling off amounted to 11s 3d in gate money. By reference to the balance sheet it will ba seen that membsrs' subscriptions are about the same, nominations and acceptances have increased by £32 17s, privileges £5 16s 6d, totahsator £36 Is 3d. The increase in the last item* must be considered very satisfactory, seeing that the bookmakers mustered in full force in> opposition to the mpcliine. Your committee | met and decided to license the bookmakers, and! aftei a canvas among them had been mad© tho fees collected totalled £14 10s. Your President (Mr Craig) applied for and was granted leave of absence to visit the Old Country, and we hope you will see fit to re-elect him. You. committee recommend that something should be done to have tho trees removed from: the park inside the course, as they are completely blocking the view. On the motion of Messrs Kelleher and T. G. Robertson, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the secretary for the active interest he had taken in the club since his appointment as secretary, the great success of the past meeting being largely attributed to the way in which horse-owners had been communicated with by the secretary. Mr M. Potts was also thanked for the work lie had done on behalf of the club at the Tapanui races. It was also resolved that a number of rules of racing, and trotting be procured and that the new stewards be provided with a copy.
