The regular meeting of the Schcol Commissioners of Otago wa° he'd on tho 19th, ard was attended by MciTs D Binron (chairman), A. Balder, T Macgibbo-i, W Dallas, and D. Borne.

Mr Dallas and the --ecret&iv (Mr ilacandrew) recommended that the B dram st Henley be ehift-ed back — Recommendation adopted, the Taieri County Council to be requested to carry out the work required

The manager of the Ota.?o and Southland Investment Company, leaser of section 4, block X, Wyudiiam district, wrote asking the

remmis'sioners either to provide a Toad or id) accept surrender of the lease. — Mr .1. I/-. M'Donald reported -on £he anatter, Southland! County Council to be asked to inform the commissioners when and why the road had beers closed.

The Engineer of the "Wallace County Coivn/» cil wrote to the effect that the council, in response to a petition from ratepayers, and With the concurrence of the tenant (Mr -iJlison), had decided to make tv road deviation! through section 36, block XV, Jacob River Hundred. — Mr M'Donald, reporting on th« matter, stated that Mr Allison objected to tha deviation being -made. — Mr Allison's opinion: on the County Council's proposal to be obtained.

The Clerk of the Southland County Council; wiofce asking the commissioners to gra-nt a small piece cf land in section 42, block VIII, Waikaia district, for a road deviation, tha council arranging the fenciv.g and other matters.—Council to be requested to submit VLie proposals of the engineer m connection with the matter.

Messrs Callan imd G-allaway -wrote on behalf of Miss Christina Patterson, lessee of section 2 of 20, block 11, Mnungatua district, asking that the protective bank along the unprotected portion of Miss Patterson's leasehold might be continued, or that they would assist her by sharing the expense. — The Chainrranr and Messrt3 Dallas and Earns to make am inspection of the 'place, and report to ntifc meeting.

The Southland Agent fojyvarded a lettea from Mr A. M'Kinnon objecting to the granting by the warden of a water race on rum 551n, Waikaia, to Mr K. M'lvor.— The Commissioners decided that they were unable to take any action in the matter.

The Southland Agent also forwarded an application from Mr C. "W. Herman for a small area of land which had been cut off section/ 242 by the Waimea railway line, and recommended that a certificpfe of title be obtained for it. — JMr Herman to be informed that ths commissioners had no power to sell, but were prepared to lease from year to year. — Certifica'es of title to be obtained.

Messrs Mondy, Sim. and Stephens forwarded a reply from the clerk of the Olakia Drainage Board to their letter objecting to the raising of a dam near Air Moynihan's reserve. — Referred to the chairman and Messrs Dalles and Borr.e to report.

Mr D. M'Dona!d, of Lime Hills, wrote stating, in reference to tho proposal for straigtenmg tho South Hill end Creak, that the only outfall below the education reserve was fha natural course of the creok, which flowed thiough Mr Gerrard's property into tho Oreti River, and that Mr Gerrnrd would make not objection to the straightening of the creek. — ■ To be informed thut when the outfall had! been completed the commissioners would substantially assist the lessees in carrying the diam through their land. A number of transfers were agreed to oa tho usual conditions.

Accounts amounting to £56 10s 2d wera passed for payment.
