GOVERNMENT OF FUTURE NEW ZEA LAND CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Mr Aschman brought up the report of tiro sub-committee with regard to the amended conditions under which future New Zealand ohampionship meetings shall be conducted, at a recent meeting of the council. The, principal clause of the report, discussion, on which was deferred till iiext meeting* was as follows: — "The championship sliield shall be annually oooipeied for by the ilistricts hereinafter specified, and 'shall be held by the club at the headquarters of -the winniiig district till the next annual championship meeting, when it shall, be again competed for. In the event of there being more than one club at the headquarters of tho winning district, the shield shall be held a.n equal time by each club. Points shall be counted as follows: — Ist, 6 points; 2nd, 3 points ; and 3rd, 1 point, in each oveat. The districts shall be Auckland, "Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago ; headquarters respectively, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. The clubs to constitute these districts shall be as follows: — Auckland district — Auckland, Waipa, Te -Awam-jtu, Cambridge West. W&llingtcm district — Wellington, Wanganui, Manawahi, Hawke'a Bay. Canterbury district — Pioneer, Canterbury College, Post and Telegraph, North Canterbury Public Schools, Ashburton, Ashburton Publiq School, South Canterbury, South Canterbury Public Schools. Otaga district — Dunedin, St. Andrew's Harriers. V.M.C.A. Harriers, North Otago, Southland Harriers, Invercargill Harrier?. ... A competitor to be eligible to represent a dis. trict must have been resident in -such district for three consecutive months immediately prior to the date of the meeting* In the event of an intending competitor removing from one district to another, consequent on his vocation, within the specified three months, application shall be made to the council for permission to compete for the district in which his new residence .is situated. . . . The following shall ba the championship event* and standards: — 100 yds flat, 10 l-ssec; 220 yds flftt, 22 4-seeo; 440 yds flat. 52sec ; half-mile flat, 2min 2sec ; one mile flat. 4min 32seo; three miles flat, 15min 30sec ; one mile walk, 7min ; threo miles walk,' 23min 20sec; 120 yds hurdles (10 flights, 3ft 6in), 16 3-Sseo; 440 yds hurdfeg (10 flights, 3ft 6in), 63sec; long jump, 20ft 6m; high iump, sft 7in ; pole jump, 10ft; putting 161b weight (7ft circle), 38ft 6iuj throwing 161b hammer (9ft circle), 130 ft.'*
