mo STAND THIS SEASON A At XORTH ROAD, OAMARU, The Thoroughbred Imported STALLION OBLIGADO. OBLIGADO is one of tho most fashionably* bred horses ever imported from England. Through his sire Orville he runs back through Ormonde, Bend Or, Doncaster, to Stockwell, whom students of breeding rightly named a "Father of tho British Stud and the Emperor of Stallions." Orville receives his Stockwell strain through the best line extant. Stockwell sired three Derby winners in Blair Athol, Lord Lyon, and Doncaster. Sire of St. Leger and Bend Or (Derby winner). Ormonde was a sori of Bend Or, and after winning the Triplo Crown and other races, was sold for 30,000 guineas. ( Ormonde begat Orme, a great performer, and sire of Flying Fox, who, after winning the Derby, was sold for 37,500 guineas, the highest price ever paid for a horse Flying Fox won £50,000 in stakes. Orville'e dam, Shotover, won the Derby and Two Thousand Guineas, and was by Hermit from Stray Shot, a daughter of Toxophilite, tho siro of Musket. Flirt, the dam of Obligado, is by Trappist (soil of Hermit) from Frivolity, one of the great Agnes family. Flirt's grandsire, Hermit, was a Derby winner, and his dam. Seclusion, -waft also the dam of Steppe, who produced Step: niak Rusaley, She (dam of BobadiU, and Mahn.ki.
