REPORTS FROM WORKING DREDGES.

Mr J. J. Ramsay reports that the Paterson's Freehold dredge obtained 33Joz of gold' last week.

The secretary of the Matau Company Te-poi-ts tlia.t the return for last week was 20oz for five days' dredging. The dredgemaster o f the Alpine No. 2 dredga reports a return of 130oz 14dwt 6gr for 132 hours' dredging, inclusive of the return reported earlier in the week.

The secretary of the Davis's Bend Company reports a return of 340z 17dwt for 97 hours' work. The dredgemaster states that the prospects are good.

The secretary of the Cromwell Gold Dredging Company reports a return of 290z Bdwt for 98 hours' dredging. The dredgemaster report* that the prospects are good. The secretary of the Stafford Waimea Company reports a return of 30oz 12dwt for 170 hours' work. The dredge is working well. The secretary of the Globe Company reports a return of 17oz sdwt for 120 hours' dredging. The dredgeniaster reports that everything la lunning well, and he hopes to have a larger return next week if all goes well. The secretary of the First Chance Dredging Company reports a return of 31oz. Bottom; was reached only on Wednesday, and some trouble has been experienced with timber. Th» dredgemaster, reporting on the 20th inst-., stated that bottom was struck that mornings for the first time this week He was troubled with the remains of some old dredge that had sunk a long time ago, and was buried deep in the ground. He was of opinion that he was on, as good wash as he had ever struck, but had more stuff to shift, and there was more drift. . The dredgemaster of the Riley's Beach dredgS rr-port3 a return of 4540z lOdwfc for the week. This is the record return so far for the present season, tho previous best being 4120z 16dwt obtained by the Alexandra Lead dredge for the week ended August 2. The Riley's Beach claim has always been regarded as very rich, and the returns for the last four weeks (all past the century) have p-roved that this hast not been an exaggerated opinion by any means. The company are fortunate in possessing an excellent dredge, which has given every satisfaction since work was commenced, and which, may be depended on to do as good work in thst f v ture.

The secretary of the New Roxburgh Jubilee Dredging Company report having received ths ■following telegram from the dredge-master : — " Washed up 1260z 14dwt for 245 hours' dredging ; indications improving." The secretary of the Clyde Dredging Corapanv roports a return of S7oz for the week. Th ? dredgemaster reports that the river ia 3ft, The secretary of the Rise and Shine Gold dredging Company reports a return of 30oz 12dwt for 50 hours' dredging. The machinery; is running well.

The dredgemister of the Leviathan dredge repoita a return of 50oz 2dwt for 106 hours' di edging. All the machinery it running well: The dredgemaster of the Golden Bed dredge reports a return of 31oz for 124 hours' dredging for the week ended August 2.3. The dredge h.is been stopped as the screen is done, but; the secretary informs us that a new screen ia on its way to the claim.

The, dredgemuster of tha Unity dredge re. ports, a return of 270z lOdwt for 10 days' dredging, and state 3 that he has been troublod opening cut, not having hrd tho elevator to assist l.'m.

The return from the Champion Company's dredge 'an week wan 230z 6dwt of gold.- Tko sluicing c!hiui gave a return of Soz 12dwt. The secretary of the Charlton Creek Company reports a return of 1-ioz for 96 hours' work. Tho dredgemastor was engaged in. effecting slight rppairs to the pontoons during part of th<> wepk.

The dredgemaster of the Fourteen-mile Beach. dredge reports a re' urn of lOoz 3dwt for 106 hours' work. Ho states that he has lost the bcttom since Thursday, and that he was shifting tho dredge on Saturday. Tho secretary of the Endeavour Dredgitg Company reports a return of soz 6dwt from tha top mats only for half a week's dredgin<*. The secretary of the Garibaldi Company Teports a return of lOoz for 119 hours' work. The dredgemaater states that the bottom ia rising. The dredgemaster of the Cornwall dredge wired on Saturday that the screen pinions stripped on Friday, necessitating a temporary stoppage. The return was 6oz 4dwt for 89 hours' dredging. The secretary of the Gabriel Gold Dredging Company reports a return of 14oz 4dwt for tho week. The dredgemaster reports that there was a good deal of silt to lift in the creek side, but he hopes to get clear of it during tho week. DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE.
