CROMWELL.
The weather on Saturday was cold and showery, ye* everything paesed off well. A religious service was held a* 10 o'clock. Shortly after 11 a. procession, formed of the band, returned troopers. Volunteers, Oddfellows, and eohool children, paraded the tewn. The Mayor and councillors rode in a decorated buggy. When the procession arrived at tho Town Hall the flag was saluted, a feu do joie fired, and al=o a sahi to by a locally-made cannon, which had excited great interest m the procession The Mayor and Messrs Tait and Hcakings delivered addresses, and tho National Anthem was sung. In the afternoon sports were held. In the evening the town was illuminated, and a display of fireworks given. During the day the Mayor presented a war nieda! to Lieutenant Jolly, Fourth Contingent. The proceedings were very enjoyable in spite of bad weather. A similar programme was earned out at Bannockburn.
