A TRIO OF NEW ACQUAINTANCES.

When returning from the National, in fulfilment of a. promise made at Ricearton Mr O. R. Wise- kindly had a trio of young equine aristocrats of his own breeding at the Oamaru station for the purpose of allowing them to be inspected by the writer. These were a thoroughbred colt and filly and a standard-bred trotting colt. The thoroughbred colt is a bip. raking brown by Euroclydou, from Broadside, a full sister to Arsenal, the winner of the Melbourne Cup of 18S6 He is 22 months old and rtands about 15hds lin, good bodied, and* powerfully built all over. The filly is the same age as the colt, and ia a very racy-looking young lady by Gipsy Grand, from Molly Darling, a well-known sprinter an hei day. She greatly favours her sire in colour and markings, and has hit conformation on a smaller scale. Her appearance suggests that she would be available for eervice early in her 6eason if her owner desired. The trottinß-bred colt is a nicely turned bay by Rothschild, from Black Belle, but he us not so forward as the thoroughbreds, who are both in excellent condition. The inspection was of neces.-ity a eouwwhat hurried one, but sufficient to show that each •of the youngsters possesses a good share cf quality combined with a taking appearance.
