MANDEVILLE.
July 23.— The weather during the past fortnight has been exceedingly seasonable and genial, and as a mattei of fact it has be«n the best winter wo have had for years-, and consequently stock — both sheep and cattle are in good condition, and farm work is well advanced all over the district.
Spinsters' Ball.— The young ladies o£ th< district invited a large number of their bachelor friends to a ball, which they held at tha Mand^ville Hall on Friday night last. The affair passed off with the greatest eclat, th« hall being most tastefully and artistically decarated, the music excellent, and the refreshments all that could be desired. In short, ii was the most pleasing function of Ihe kind that has ever been hold m Mandeville, aoid the entertainment reflecrs the greatest credit on Miss Mary M'Kenzie, the indefatigable young secretary, and her energetic committee. Tiha young spinsters present formed a noteworthy feature of the ball, as they w-ere admitted by all their masculine admirers to be the most charming and best-looking gathering of girls that has ever graced the Mandeviile Public Hall.
