The affair was a brilliant success throughout, the unanimous opinion of those present being to the effecr. that it was the most em'oyable ball ever yer. held at Clyde. The hall was very tasteful ly,j decorated, the festoons of coloured material! and the display of neatly draned flags givmr; the interior quite a bria-bt and v\pn* ir >£ ai *,

The catering -was all that could be deaired, Mr Francis putting forth his best effort in the supply of choice edibles, ,Vrthich were done ample justice to by some 60 couples. The music was supplied by Miss Reany (piano), Messrs Briasco (violin), and M'Eachen (cornet). Mr W. Annan made an efficient M.C.. I arc indebted to two young Udies for the brief description of the dresses worn, which I send for Emmeline's column. t may say, by way of preface, that it is not customary for me to meddle in such descriptive details, possessing, as I do, a fear o£ incurring displeasure by being too brief. However, I willingly comply with the wi=h expressed that I'suould hang up dry-as-dust political news for the time being and send you some matter more interesting to the ladies.
