Mr W. H. Ballinger, of Wellington, has sent his brother Arthur some interesting notes concerning the doings of New Zealanders at the Bisley rifle meeting. The letter, which was received yesterday, was, of ocurse written from the camp some weeks before the meeting began. The writer says that rain had fallen during most of the time sprnt there. Good practice wa= being done on every opportunity. It appears from Mr Balli»ger"s notes that great alterations have been made this year in the size of the targets to be ueod. When the last New Zealand team went Home the targets were the some i-ize as tho<=e u-ed at Trentham. Last year— namely at 200 yd?, Oin bull's pyc, 20in inner, and 32m " magpie '* : and at sCoyds and 600 yds, 24in " bulls,"' 36in inner. 48in " magpie." All these eizes have bcon tpduced considerably for this yeai"s Bifley meeting— namely, at 200 yd", 7in bull's eye, ]4in inner, 21in "magpie.' At 500 yds and 600ydg. 20in " bull," 30in inner, and 36in "' magpie." Another great change which has been effected if- that marksmen may take any position at the 200 yds range. At Trentham last year competitors had to stand when shooting at this stage, and previously at Bisl-ey they Lad to kneel at tho range (it was ptated in Tuesday's cable meeting that Mr Ballinger had scored the " possible " at th-e 200 yds range in shooting for the King's Prized An account is given by Mr Ballinger of the shooting of the New Zealanders for the National Rifle Association medal, the winner of which apparently qualifies to shoot in a special representative match. The ranges were 200 yds, 500 yds, and 600 yds, and there were to be three matches only, two of whir-h had boen fired when the letter was po9tetl.
