THE HOLIDAY FOR THE COLONY.
The Mayor (Mr J. A. Park) on Thursday received tho following telegram from the Acting-Premier, Sir J. G. Ward: — " The Government has received official intimation that the Coronation of his Majesty the King is to take place on tho 9th of August next. After full consideration it has been decided that the day officially fixed for New Zealand to take part in the celobrations shall be Saturday, the 9th pros., and that day will bo declared a public holiday throughout the colon}'. Some representations Jiave been made to the Government with tho object of having tho holiday on the Monday (11th), but after giving the matter tho fullest consideration, it is not thought desirablo to make such an alteration. The various Government ceremonies originally intended to have been held on th« 26th of June will therefore tako place on Saturday, the 9th of August."
